Nephron-Sparing Surgery (NSS) is a kidney-preserving procedure that removes only the tumor while preserving healthy kidney tissue. Available via open or laparoscopic approach.
Indications
Small renal masses (typically <7cm), bilateral tumors, solitary kidney, chronic kidney disease patients.
Procedure Details
The tumor is excised with a margin of normal tissue while preserving maximum renal parenchyma. Laparoscopic approach offers smaller incisions and faster recovery.
Recovery
