Overview
Complete removal of the kidney along with surrounding fat, Gerota's fascia, and sometimes the adrenal gland for large or centrally located renal tumors.
Indications
Large renal tumors (>7cm), centrally located tumors, tumors with venous involvement.
Procedure Details
The entire kidney is removed en bloc with perinephric fat. Laparoscopic approach is preferred when technically feasible.
Recovery
Hospital stay 3-7 days. Full recovery in 6-8 weeks.
Risks & Considerations
Bleeding, injury to adjacent organs, long-term renal function impact.
