Overview

Endoscopic destruction of posterior urethral valves causing bladder outlet obstruction in male children.

Indications

Posterior urethral valves, male infants/children with bladder outlet obstruction.

Procedure Details

A pediatric resectoscope or cold knife is used to incise the valve leaflets at 5, 7, and 12 o'clock positions.

Recovery

Usually day-case or overnight stay. Catheter for 24-48 hours.

Risks & Considerations

Incomplete ablation, urethral stricture, persistent bladder dysfunction.
