Overview
Incision of the detrusor muscle to create a diverticulum and increase functional bladder capacity.
Indications
Small capacity bladder, neurogenic bladder, failed medical therapy.
Procedure Details
The detrusor muscle is incised while preserving the mucosa, allowing the mucosa to bulge and increase capacity.
Recovery
Hospital stay 3-5 days. Catheter for 2-3 weeks.
Risks & Considerations
Inadequate capacity gain, bladder rupture, urinary retention.
