Overview
Surgical repair of inguinal hernia, which may be associated with urological conditions or present independently.
Indications
Symptomatic inguinal hernia, incarcerated hernia, hernia discovered during urological surgery.
Procedure Details
The hernia sac is reduced and the defect is repaired with or without mesh reinforcement (open or laparoscopic).
Recovery
Usually day-case. Return to light activities in 1 week, heavy lifting after 4-6 weeks.
Risks & Considerations
Recurrence, chronic pain, wound infection, testicular atrophy.
