Overview

Surgical removal of one or both testicles for testicular cancer, hormonal therapy, or non-viable testis.

Indications

Testicular tumor, hormonal ablation for prostate cancer, testicular torsion with non-viable testis, atrophic testis.

Procedure Details

Radical inguinal orchiectomy (for tumors) or simple scrotal orchiectomy (for benign conditions) is performed.

Recovery

Usually day-case. Return to activities in 1-2 weeks.

Bleeding, infection, scrotal hematoma, psychological impact.
