Overview

Laparoscopic approach to locate and bring down an undescended testis into the scrotum.

Indications

Non-palpable undescended testis, intra-abdominal testis, failed previous orchiopexy.

Procedure Details

Laparoscopy is used to locate the testis and mobilize it with its blood supply for placement in the scrotum (one or two-stage Fowler-Stephens).

Recovery

Usually day-case or overnight. Return to activities in 1-2 weeks.

Risks & Considerations

Testicular atrophy, recurrent ascent, injury to vas deferens.
